Family History: Agatha Mercer was always an unstable child, prone to drastic mood-swings and explosive tantrums. The severity of such emotions dulled over the years, but she was no less unstable and when she entered University, she took a liking to dulling her senses and emotions further with drugs and alcohol. Somehow maintaining her grades passably enough to keep her parents happy, she still partied and drank to excess every weekend. On one such night that she doesn't really remember much of aside from the fact that it was like most weekends, she spent the night with a man she can't remember. Two weeks later, she discovered she was pregnant.

Terrified, but suddenly determined, she dumped out every bottle of alcohol in her dingy apartment and flushed every drug. She entered a narcotics anon group as well as AA, and finally told her parents of her unsavory habit. They were shocked, but no less supportive. She still attends meetings to this day, and has become a licensed therapist for those with dependency problems like she had. Both her parents and Tabitha are immensely proud.

Character History

Tabitha Katherine Mercer was born to a single mother on hard times, but she was no less loved for her inconvenient timing. As a toddler, she was friendly to everyone she met and accepting of all sorts. At the tender age of 6, she discovered her magic when a classmate began making fun of her for her choice of hairstyle. In her anger and hurt, she caused her bully to loose all the hair on their head. After that, she tended to keep to herself for fear of similar incidents.

When she received her letter to Salem, she was ecstatic. Excited to be able to join people like her, she read all she could on both the school and Wizarding culture. At the time, she was just beginning to understand that she didn't always feel like a girl. Her sorting didn't take long, though the Hat deliberated between Omnimodum and Animus for a moment, and she was sorted into the Brave Ones.

Tabby took to flying as if she was born to it, and she loved the freedom it allowed. She'd always wondered about her father, but her mother never spoke of him, and Tabby wasn't one to press the issue. However, she still sometimes wished and wondered, and one day over Christmas break in her fourth year, she finally asked about him. To hear that her mother actually didn't know who her father was, well, it was a shock, to say the least.

She always loved teaching, and became a teacher at Salem just two years after graduating. She quickly became the Deputy Headmistress, and when the Headmaster of the time decided to retire, he picked Tabby for his successor.
